Since 1968, Northeast New Jersey Legal Services (NNJLS) has provided free, high-quality legal representation and advice in civil law matters to low-to-moderate income individuals throughout Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic Counties. Access to legal services often provides lifesaving representation and advocacy on behalf of residents that protects survivors of domestic violence and their children, prevents evictions and keeps families in their homes, and increases access to public benefits.
The past few years have been exceptionally difficult for low-to-moderate income families. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated many of the hardships already faced by our clients, particularly survivors of domestic violence, seniors, low income workers, and their families—many of whom live at or below the Federal poverty line.

An important note to funders:
Northeast New Jersey Legal Services (NNJLS) is funded in part by the Legal Services Corporation. As a condition of the funding it receives from LSC, NNJLS is restricted from engaging in certain activities in all of its legal work including work supported by other funding sources. NNJLS may not expend any funds for any activity prohibited by the Legal Services Corporation Act, 42 U.S.C. 2996 et seq. or by Public Law 104-134.
Public Law 104-134 § 504(d) requires that notice of these restrictions as well as other relevant information be given to all funders of programs funded by the Legal Services Corporation as well as to the public.
